In a little less then a month I will be headed out to new york city. This time I will be there looking for an apartment. Unfortunately, finding a place in new york is a bit more rushed, expensive and generally more difficult then other parts of the country. As a general rule, apartments are not rented out in advance. You look one day, sign a lease the second, and move in on the third. I will have one week to find a suitable dwelling before heading to TX. And after that (well OK, after getting married, honeymoon, and actually moving to nyc) my task will be job hunting. Which brings me to the point of writing this. I find that it is far more effective to find a job by networking and talking to people then by sending out lots of random resumes. So, if you know someone who may be looking for a talented "computer guy," let them know about me, or let me know about them. They don't need to be IT people themselves, it could be anyone at just about any company in new york. Send me an email or give me a call.
