Greg's NAB

(Not A Blog)

For the last six weeks I have been teaching an after school program at Juarez High School.  Lacey and I teach the class together.  It is part of the AfterSchoolMatters program.  Our students (apprentices) get paid to attend our class.  We teach them about computers and technology three hours a day, three days a week, for ten weeks.  Among the things we have taught them to do so far:

1. install windows 98, windows XP and Linux (Red Hat)
2. install RAM, trouble shoot memory problems and run RAM tests
3. install hard drives and optical drives, configure master/slave settings
4. install a processor and heatsink
5. detect and remove spyware
6. create and update a blog
7. wiki
8. and much more....

I am having a lot of fun teaching the class. The students are learning a lot, and so am I.  Them about computers, and I about teaching.  The kids are in grades 9-12.  If you want to see what they think about the class, and read some of the hilarious things they have to say, check out their blogs: (apparently some of them have not been doing their blogging assignments. and some of the links are wrong...)
